Easter Weekend

We enjoyed a beautiful long weekend with our adult children and a couple extra friends. Friday we made a fire and decided to cook our dinner over the open flame.
Saturday we went exploring at Cypress Swamp on the Natchez Trace Parkway. We had been there before but wanted to take our visitors who were visiting from out of state. You could see the signs of the recent flooding but also signs of spring.
Overall, a beautiful Easter weekend!

Spring Break 2016

Kaitlyn and Addison had different spring breaks this year. So instead of a big family trip we took short day trips. Day 1: Meridian, MS
Day 2: Natchez, MS

February recap

I'm a little late in sharing some February layouts. Enjoy!

January recap

I've been a scrapbooker for many years. Not consistently, mind you, but off and on. I've always stuck to scrapping events since I've never been organized enough to do a weekly recap. With the ease of the Project Life App, I've decided my goal for 2016 will be to add a monthly scrapbook page in addition to the events I scrap during the year. We'll see if I made it through 2016 with 12 monthly recap pages. Here is month 1 accomplished!

Is It Winter Yet?

The last few weeks of December were unseasonably warm! It's hard to think about Christmas when it's 80 degrees and the air conditioner is on. The first week of January brought some cooler weather but I noticed something in my garden... The flowers I thought were dead had started reblooming!

Christmas 2015

I must confess, Christmas was difficult for me this year. I've always heard that the first holiday after losing a loved one can be hard. Now that I've experienced it, I know that is true! I missed Dad in so many ways, but I'm so thankful Mom got to spend time with us.

Fond Memories of Kentucky

My dad grew up in Kentucky and then moved to Illinois after high school. Growing up I used to love our trips to Kentucky. I always loved the beautiful scenery along the country roads.

After Dad's death in April, traveling to Kentucky for my uncle's funeral in November was especially poignant. Spending time with my siblings and reminiscing about fond memories made the trip extra special.

Outdoor Life

Now that our children are grown and only come home for "visits", some of our most enjoyable moments are when we get to explore the great outdoors! Time to share as a family and listen to what is happening in their lives. Treasured moments for sure!

Black Friday Hiking

After the great hiking trip Mark and I had in October for our first empty nest trip, we really wanted to take a hiking trip with the whole family. Thanksgiving turned out to be the perfect time. Both kids were home and we were going to spend a few days with Mark's mom. She just happens to live just an hour from Tishomingo State Park.

I had been doing some research on the best hiking trails in MS. Tishomingo was at the top of several lists due to the rock formations along the trail. It was hard for me to believe that we could find this in MS!

So on Black Friday instead of hitting the sales (and pushing through the crowds), we hit the trails. What a wonderful day of family time. By far this is my favorite hiking in Mississippi!

Memory Keeping

I've been heavily involved in scrap booking in the past. A room was kept crammed full of supplies. As time went by and my children grew into adults, I found less and less time to create the pages like I used to. Thank goodness for the ProjectLifeApp created by BeckyHigginsllc. Now I can easily and quickly create scrapbook pages on my phone! After a long hiatus, I am now back to creating scrapbook pages for my family to enjoy!
